Dressing the Chinoiserie Powder Room

I have been intrigued for quite a while about the increasing popularity of black toilet paper. It has become "the" chic trend all over Europe in hip hotels, restaurants, and bars and has now jumped the pond and is becoming quite the "in" thing in NYC. The idea of doing a post on the subject matter of toilet paper has prevented me, but then I saw these photos of the same Chinoiserie powder room, one with white toilet paper, the other with black. After Grant Gibson's post today on the subject of colored toilet paper, I couldn't resist. I'm sure many of you might leap on the anti colored toilet paper bandwagon, but doesn't the black look much better in this space? What is sacrosanct about white? Don't most of us enjoy colored sheets and towels? What do you think? Is black chic in the right setting or are you a purist? Made by Renova, it is 3-ply, biodegradable, non-toxic, and entirely recyclable, and comes in black, red, orange, fuschia, green, and turquoise. For more information on what has been called the sexiest toilet paper on earth, check out their website. For some incredible toilet paper wallpaper, check out this post of mine on my other blog Style Redux.

I think I would prefer red paper....or maybe a deep deep dark green? The plain black just seems icky to me - I guess I'm a purist. I HATE black toilets. My favorite restaurant (which has since closed) had black toilets and I refused to use the bathrooms. I just thought they were the most disgusting things and they always felt dirty to me!

Stefan-They do have a great red, orange, turquoise, fuschia. I am actually the purist with sheets and towels. I have all white or ivory cotton sheets and all white towels with monograms. I do think it's a fun question-sure beats water boarding and the economy. ;)

Grant-This is fun. A naughty diversion. Thanks for the mention.

I say black., but frankly, would not find the need to hang either on this gorgeous surface. Put t in a gorgoes basket in tin, not where IT becomes the star on the wall.

g.-The perfect answer to this age old question!

I agree with g. as well- I have my toliet paper in a trophy cup as I didn't want it on the wall.
I have been NOT installing them on the wall for years!

Grant-The silver trophy cup is so inspired-I love it. Little details like this are what truly separate the men from the boys in design.
