The Chinoiserie Bench

This Montespan Settee is named for Louis XIV's mistress, Athenais de Montespan, who had the first Chinoiserie influenced interior in the Trianon de Porcelaine designed by Louis Le Vau at Versailles. I love the Chinese red lacquer, the circles and rounds of the back, the x formed sides, and the back that curves up to form an x. This would be a dramatic and unexpected choice for an entrance hall, sun room, or conservatory.

The moment I saw the image on my dashboard it was " oooohh.the entry way needs this!!!! A tray on one side with an arrangement & foo dog would add fun.... I just saw a mass of pusy willows at Costco of all places. A cushion on the other end....yup now I just need to do some convincing.
Love it as much as your blog.

Simply stunning. I'd love it in cobalt blue, too.
