Calligraphy brushes are a great way to add Chinoiserie flair to your tablescapes. Pictured here are two examples from my own home. Click on the photos for greater detail. Stefan-I'm not sure if crazy is good or bad, but it's a cast iron candle holder from the old Winterthur catalog that looks wonderful lit.
crazy is good - I LOVE it! It reminds me of the ivory ones that are so rare and beautiful (and expensive!).
Stefan-Thank goodness-I thought I was going to have to get rid of it-LOL!
I took a class in college on Chinese calligraphy and those brushes are really tricky to paint with, but in the hands of a master, it's amazing the control and fluidity that they can give you.
kelly wearstler tends to stash thesw brushes on many of her table scapes. It adds such glamour, worldly, chic-ness!
i love the concept of a "tablescape." also, i am totally enamored of the dog portrait on the wall. now that's a girl after my own heart!
Love the texture of the brushes. Nice touch. I have found some treasures at Tuesday Morning. I bought an Asian inspired jewelry box that I use in my office to hold supplies. Love the idea of using something in a different way, like your brush art!
