Calligraphy Brushes

Calligraphy brushes are a great way to add Chinoiserie flair to your tablescapes. Pictured here are two examples from my own home. Click on the photos for greater detail. Be on the lookout in art supply stores, eBay, stores specializing in antique and new Asian furnishings, home furnishings stores, even discount stores-I found all of these at Tuesday Morning.

Dumbwit Tellher-They have some great things.

Stefan-I'm not sure if crazy is good or bad, but it's a cast iron candle holder from the old Winterthur catalog that looks wonderful lit.

crazy is good - I LOVE it! It reminds me of the ivory ones that are so rare and beautiful (and expensive!).

Stefan-Thank goodness-I thought I was going to have to get rid of it-LOL!

I took a class in college on Chinese calligraphy and those brushes are really tricky to paint with, but in the hands of a master, it's amazing the control and fluidity that they can give you.

kelly wearstler tends to stash thesw brushes on many of her table scapes. It adds such glamour, worldly, chic-ness!

Love the texture of the brushes. Nice touch. I have found some treasures at Tuesday Morning. I bought an Asian inspired jewelry box that I use in my office to hold supplies. Love the idea of using something in a different way, like your brush art!

The Glam Lamb-Interesting-I'll have to look for examples of how she uses them.
