Chinoiserie Window Treatments

What window treatments go well in a room with Chinoiserie flair? My personal favorites are silk and Chinoiserie toile. Since silks originated in China, silk is a natural choice. Full length silk panels are elegant, dramatic, understated, and easily purchased or created. Silks are also ideal for shades like roman or balloon. A cotton toile with a Chinoiserie design is another perfect idea. In more formal rooms, a pagoda shaped cornice could be used. Here are some favorite examples for further inspiration.

Joe Nye-Travers Chinese Garden Chinoiserie toile

Joe Nye-melon colored silk tafetta curtains

Melissa Rufty-Chinese red silk shade

Kendall Wilkinson-Quadrille Chinoiserie toile with pagoda valances

Love the Pagoda valences!

I'm still mulling over what to do with my windows...I've ordered blinds but I really think some of the rooms need curtains as well to add some softness....

Stefan-I plan an upcoming post on the designer-you will love her work.

Averill-You need to do either plantation shutters or great window treatments, not blinds.

Sande-Isn't that the best color silk?

Sarah-What about the colors, the coral and seahorse sconces, and the Frances Elkins loop chairs-really wonderful!

Just Love that Kendall Wilkinson turquoise room with the lacquered walls, the painted tree pattern on the wall and the orange Chinoiserie toile cornice boards with panels and soft roman drapes. (along with the orange tray on the bed!)

Ps. Thank you so much for adding us to your blog roll, we really appreciate it!
