Chinoiserie Shed-The Big Reveal

If you follow Chinoiserie Chic, you may recall that my property includes an antique brick garden shed. The interior was very spartan, all pegboard walls and plywood shelves. I decided to combine my love of Chinoiserie and gardening to glam it up. Here you see the final results, all done at very little cost. The door I painted in Farrow & Ball Chinese Blue and found this antique dragon door knocker on eBay. More about that here. The shelves and walls I stained mahogany using Minwax. The lighting fixture was $5.00 from Habitat ReStore, a great source for inexpensive home remodeling items. All proceeds benefit Habitat for Humanity. The ceiling I painted in Farrow & Ball Lulworth Blue. Then I had great fun outfitting it with gardening tools, garden decor, and Chinoiserie. For more great shed inspiration, pick up the new book Shed Chic by Sally Coulthard. My post on the book here. I think my little shed is a great example of making any area of your home a reflection of your own style.

  3. What glam, and of course you would have pink Wellies! Love the idea that you can store stuff, be inspired and look sensational at the same time. One of the ways I sponsored my very early retirement to my home and garden was to give up my car! I needed the space for my tools (including my DEWALT sliding compound miter saw). Never regretted a minute of it. Paneled all the wall in peg board as you have and adding moulding all around which yahoo men always talk about when they see it. I say it's like lace on a dress. I get the eye rolls. Here, you get the drum rolls. The door knocker maybe your best find of all. Happy gardening!

  4. Home Before Dark-The idea of crown molding-oh yes! I do have a two car garage that I glammed up as well. The ceiling is wood so I stained it mahogany too. Then I painted the walls in Farrow & Ball Elephant's Breath-a very soft gray. The piece de resistance is 4 crystal chandeliers that I picked up very reasonably. They are on a motion detector so when you pull in to the garage they light. Very fun and glam-paint and lighting are cheap and go a long way in sprucing up a space. Thanks for all your comments-I really look forward to hearing from you.
