Ginger Jars-Think Big

At a recent antiques show here in Alexandria, I was quite taken with the display of a dealer who had placed two massive ginger jars atop an antique dining table. If you want a stunning look for a foyer, sofa table, fireplace, or dining table, keep your eyes open for oversized ginger jars. They will make quite a Chinoiserie statement. I prefer pairs, but then my taste is quite symmetrical. These examples here at 1st dibs.

Ashley Whittaker

Charlotte Moss

Carolyne Roehm

Mary McDonald

I have been thinking of adding these to my fireplace...I like the blue and white. I shall be on the lookout now.
Thank you for the post.

Yes. I'm obsessed. I think they have some pretty good knock offs at Garden Ridge. I know Garden Ridge is mostly yucky puke puke, but every once in a while, they have something decent!!!

I am always drawn to the Charlotte Moss foyer when it is posted. So pretty. All of these images are great inspiration. My mom has two jars similar to the 1st dibs image and I circle around them like a shark coming in for the kill. But, she just pretends she doesn't notice :) Maybe I need to buy my own!

I adore large scale ginger jars but rarely see them to buy. Do you have any great sources you'd care to share?

I love these images! When done right, the oversized jars are very dramatic. I love the vignette with the jars under the table.

A couple of months ago, I purchased two huge blue and white lidded urns at Homegoods for $20 each. No kidding. I move them from room to room and have debated buying a second pair, if I see them offered for sale again. I LOVE them. They really make a statement.

The Ashley Whittaker foyer is what got me hooked on blue & white porcelain in the first place; I'm just a new convert, but since then, I've been hooked. I would love a pair of oversized blue & white ginger jars on either side of my fireplace.
