The Tiny Chinoiserie Entryway

Shelter magazines are awash with stunning entryways with beautiful console tables, pairs of lamps, artwork, flanking chairs, and the like. The truth is that many of us in rentals, city apartments, studio apartments, townhouses, ramblers, split levels, and split foyers do not have the luxury of a large entry. I am on the search for examples of tiny but chic Chinoiserie foyers. The first is my daughter's apartment which is a pre-war rental apartment in Georgetown and her first apartment. On the plus side is high ceilings and original cherry floors. The negative is the small entrance and narrow hall. We used a gold pagoda mirror, a gilt two legged console table topped in black marble that attaches to the wall, a petite Chinese garden stool, and some fun accessories from Target and Anthropologie. The piece de resistance is the gold peel and stick DIY artwork in the hallway from Ikea.

Very fun and youthful! When I decorated my son's nursery I had some stickies made to order from a home based company in Tulsa. They designed to my specifications and it was super inexpensive, but excellent quality. If you need their info, just let me know.

I love a tiny entry and a tiny guest bath. Two tiny places to make a big statement. Your daughter's place is just great. I better not let my 18 year old see this. She is starting the "place of my own" conversations which unravels me but then again she is reading her mom's blog more and finding that the mommy has some "cool" and very talented bloggy friends. Of course I do Taylor! Chinoiserie & Style Redux being one of them! Have a great Sunday. Lisa

Love your daughter's apartment! We're hoping to move to Georgetown when our lease is up in May. We might be neighbors!

Stickers are such a great solution in a narrow space! I have only been able to use them once...but am curently suggesting them again for a small laundry room. The foyer is so sophisticated, you hardly notice the size!!!

You're so right; for most of us a huge entryway is more dream than reality. I love what you've done with your daughter's space. It's gracious and welcoming despite it's petite size.

Hi Style Redux... here is the info I mentioned: http://www.mywalldecals.com/
They were great and worked on two custom projects for me and did not charge any additional fees other than the product itself. I thought they did such a great job that I wanted to share with you all.
Mine is a consumer blog with a mommy twist, so you gave me an idea for my next post. Fun!
