Beth, fabulous interview. I loved your comments and you even added a few reminders about hanging art and window treatments. Excellent!

Wonderful interview, and am glad good things coming your way. While we often see your right brain/left brain in action (your wonderful lists), it's nice to see you have shucked off that law-school training thing. Living with an English major turned lawyer, I know that is a hard thing to do. I admire your following your own Chinese Drum Song. As my husband said to me last week, "All the really important things in life, I have learned from you." Something tells me Mr.CC might say the same of you.

Oh how fun! And I feel like I would know your answers as you have shared so much here. You saved a little surprize for us by not sharing pictures of your bedroom when you posted your home last week. How delightful! Also, many many many bloggers I have "met" were lawyers in a previous life. Do you have a theory as to why? Congratulations!

What a great article! I couldn't agree with you more on your comment about "tacky oversized McMansions", we used to have a cozy 1940's home and these ugly monsters started going up around us.

Beth that was a terrific interview. I love your style, your class and your candor. I like your definition of a good designer, too. In fact, to Shiny Pebble's point, I think there is some overlap in the definition of a good lawyer: Creativity (or the ability to think outside of the box), attention to detail and an excellent memory. Throw in a good eye and you've got a lawyer with designer potential :) Marija

Home Before Dark-You should write a book on picking the perfect husband which you clearly did. What a wonderful thing he said-I would never forget it.

Great feature! Love your style and your frank interview. We moved from Clarendon two years ago and almost did a tear down in Lyon Village before deciding to move to oakton/vienna area for more yard and a pool. I wonder if where we live is classified as a McMansion. I'll say we use every inch of our space and is perfect for our blended family. I identify with a lot of the previous lawyers in design/blogging. My job in private equity was heavy on the legal slant, and I was always itching to explore my more creative side.

The Shiny Pebble-Thanks so much. I have posted before on my Pagoda bedroom when I first finished it a few months ago. I think excellent lawyers and interior designers share many of the same qualities-intelligence, a great memory, attention to detail, and creative thinking outside the box. Add artistic ability/style, you have an interior designer. But my theory is that a person with intelligence and style can do just about anything well.

Cricket-The same in my neighborhood-it should be illegal.

Marija-Your analysis is spot on-
good lawyers and interior designers share much in common.

I am so happy to know that I am not the only person who does not understand or celebrate the beige/gray Belgian thing. What a relief! You are the best!
