I am working on a post on red Chinoiserie and I stumbled upon this photo from my archives. What a great way to turn a bookcase into a Chinoiserie focal point by painting it red and adding some Chinoiserie accessories. Wonderful!
Love this! Reminds me my husband's small den many houses ago. I painted it all this same red, mouldings, bookcases and all. Then added boiserie which I very lightly glazed with a gold leaf paint. With black pagoda shades on the sconces, it felt very much like this photo. Can you picture it with a emerald velvet and leopard pillows on the daybed. Never finished the pillows and, sadly, I never photographed it. :( This photo inspires me to consider it all again.
Be still, my heart!!! So wonderful! Hope you saw Joni's post from yesterday: the dining room of Covetable Design....exquisite and not to be missed. Red is IT!!!!
I grew up in Europe and Lake Forest, Illinois. After graduating from The Ferry Hall School, Bryn Mawr College, and George Washington University Law School, I practiced law in Washington, D.C. Now I am finally devoting my time to two of my great passions - interior design and Chinoiserie.
