Setting the Chinoiserie Table-Black Glassware

This Juliska black glassware featured in Joe Nye's book Flair is stunning. Elegant, sophisticated, and mysterious, it holds its own visually against Chinoiserie china patterns where ordinary clear glassware can get lost. If you hold it up to the light, you see aubergine-very deep, dark purple. I especially like black paired with pink in the table settings below. At $68.00 a goblet, it is not in every budget. An excellent well priced alternative is Target's Midnight Black Glassware Collection shown below. At $29.99 for a set of 6, it is a stylish and chic choice. Amazon.com also has an excellent selection.Wine connoisseurs need not object-even Riedel makes black wine glasses which it says are designed to prevent preconceived perceptions before tasting a wine. Thank you for all your blog birthday wishes and suggestions. Don't forget to enter to win a copy of Flair by leaving a comment here.

Those Juliska glasses are just plain SEXY!!!!! Maybe not for EVERY budget but if there was a way to squeeze them into it, it would be a fabulous investment. They are so incredible.

I want to say that the black juliska is on sale at horchow. I was looking at it just today. Also, I don't know if there is such a thing as faux Juliska, but tuesday morning had a bunch of stuff that looked and felt just like it.
