Setting the Chinoiserie Table-China Patterns

Today we take a look at my favorite Chinoiserie china patterns. I know that the conventional wisdom is to choose a white plate with a simple band so you won't tire of it. I would be tired of that the day I got it. My wedding china is Wedgwood Chinese Tigers and I still love it. I would no more have simple white china than I would have white walls in my home. To me both show an absence of style and imagination. Buy what you love for your home and you will never go wrong. Above is the classic Royal Crown Derby Old Imari.

Home, James! Chinatown-I got this for my birthday this year

Such elegant patterns, Beth! One of myh all time favorites it Red Pagoda. I've never seen Chinese Tigers...it is wonderful! I could see myself using any of these but in particular, the Wedgwood Jasper Conran...so fresh!

Thanks for all the info on these wonderful patterns. Another favorite of mine is Spode's Pearl River. I am especially fond of CM's Nancy and the RL Red Pagoda. So many great patterns out there to tempt us!

Thanks for all the beautiful patterns. You should include Haviland Limoges "Jardin Bleu" an exquisite chinoiserie pattern on an octagonal plate.

This is so helpful knowing all the china patterns I knew a few but wondered about the one with blue and monkeys. I have the Isis one in pink.
I will print this out and save so I can shop!!

Some great patterns here. Makes me think I need to pick up a set of salad or dessert plates in a great blue and white pattern to perk up my white/platinum china.

This is seriously addictive stuff. I've just added Mottahedeh Blue Canton to go with my everyday Blue Calico. Love your tigers!

Love your blog and find it most interesting. As a designer of products, I would love to see your take on designing a space, in a dining room/office area with an l-shaped desk. This is a dilemma I am working on myself and would love to see your spin on home office spaces!
Hope to win the book as I love Joe Nye's style.
