Sunday Inspiration and Cool Thoughts

We have been without power here since Friday evening when a crazy storm burst called a derecho left millions in the dark with temperatures here of 100 degrees and over. There are long lines for gas and food at the businesses that do have power. I stopped in Panera last evening and the place was like a shelter with mothers with infants, the elderly, entire families seeking air conditioning, food, and cold drinks. Power may not be on for everyone for another week. This beach scene above looks very inviting. I am open to any invitations. I am penning this using my husband's laptop at a Starbucks as my iPad is not ideal for blogging. Hopefully we will be back up soon!

What an insane storm it was!! Hopefully you won't be without power for much longer...please be careful. Downtown Annapolis was spared but much of the surrounding area wasn't. Just in time for a true old-fashioned Fourth-reminds me of my grad school days in Charlottesville...hot, sticky, and exhausting. Time for a trip to the Frick to recuperate!!

I agree with you on the iPad. Love it, but not for blogging.
Sorry that your power is out. I feel for y'all as Debby visited us last weekend and it was a mess. The beach here is SO hot, and the humidity is horrible.
Love this image, Beth.

Oh dear, I had no idea. That is really just awful. I hope that the electricity is restored soon. This heat is unbearable without it.

My house (Northern Virginia) for some strange reason, was spared the outage. Every other neighborhood nearby has no electricity, and the stores, restaurants are mostly closed. That means my friends and family are camping out here, and it's crowded, but nice. Try the BlogPress app on the iPad, it works seamlessly to post text, photos and replies to comments. I hope that you are staying cool and safe, and that the lights come back soon! Best, Neen

We've been through this is Kansas. Not this time, but do know what you are talking about. Cool relief and soon. We've hit 107 with 115 heat index. My husband says we move to southern Texas without the hassle of moving. Jeezzzz! Hope you and the adorable pup are hanging in there!

Drove south on I-95 today heading to the beach. There was a calvary of power trucks going north. Must have seen over 200 in about 90 minutes. Hope they are @ your house as I type. The heat wave & no power is a critical situation for sure. It was 106 when I left NC & only 101 in SC. Lawsey, Be safe & careful.

I am so sorry. This happened to us last October....and it lasted 6 days! Our power was restored by trucks from California. Then, the electric company raised our rates to cover the repair costs. Do you want to come to New Jersey? You can help me with my One Room Challenge.
