Chinoiserie Lighting

Thomas Pheasant
If money were no object, my home would be filled with the extraordinary lighting of Charles Edwards, especially one of his pagoda lanterns. But at about $7500, these are not for the average budget. I like not only the styling and details, but also the colors. If you are lucky enough to find a great vintage Chinoiserie faux bamboo chandelier or pagoda lantern, think beyond the obvious choice of white.

Charles Edwards uses Chinese Red, Racing Green, Duck Egg Blue, Cooking Apple Green, High Gloss Black, and even gilded gold and silver. Wouldn't gold or silver leaf be a fantastic DIY project?
