Karges Chinoiserie Secretary/Bookcase at LIV Vintage

This incredible vintage Karges Chinoiserie Secretary/Bookcase would be such a show stopper in your home to display books, blue and white Chinese porcelain, blanc de Chine, or anything you choose. This very high end piece is black with Chinese red interior and gold leaf detailing. Two doors have woven brass, the others have beveled glass. The interior secretary has a gold leather writing surface.

Blue and White Chinoiserie Dining Room

I love the Prussian blue walls and crisp white woodwork in this dining room by Allison Caccoma featured in House Beautiful. The coral pink tulips and branches of Japanese quince in a blue and white Chinese porcelain vase add a great pop of color.

Phoebe Howard Dining Room - Two Ways

I know lots of people love this Phoebe Howard dining room above, but it has always struck me as somewhat cold. I much prefer the way it has been styled below for her book, not to mention the better lighting, all of which has warmed it up for me.

Gold & Chinoiserie

I simply adore the combination of gold and Chinoiserie as shown in these three wonderful rooms below. Anthropologie has this wallpaper shown above that would be amazing in a Chinoiserie powder room, entryway, or dressing room with blue and white Chinese porcelain, black and gold lacquered Chinoiserie furniture or other Chinoiserie touches. It would also be great for the DIY type - it is brown kraft paper with gold painted polka dots.

High/Low Cabinet

Albert Hadley
I have always adored the iconic Albert Hadley obelisk cabinet shown above. I think the vintage Hollywood Regency cabinet with its gold leafed interior shown below available at LIV Vintage has the same look. The exterior would be fabulous in white as shown or repainted in black. At bottom is a modern version of a cabinet with gold interior at Anthropologie.

High/Low Brush Stroke Lamp

Bunny Williams
Bunny Williams designed her new Brush Stroke Lamp above priced at $850 as a modern alternative to the traditional blue and white Chinese porcelain lamp. Wisteria's Brush Stroke Lamp below is priced at $299 and has the same modern Chinoiserie vibe.

A Look Back at Chinoiserie at the Oscars

At the Academy Awards in 1997, Nicole Kidman wowed in this striking chartreuse silk Chinoiserie gown by John Galliano for Christian Dior. This dress has gone down as one of the most memorable in Oscar history for three reasons - its cut and color were highly unique in a sea of pastel ball gowns, she raised the bar for stars to wear haute couture to the Oscars, and she started the trend of borrowing jewelry for the event.

The Chinoiserie Powder Room

This incredible powder room is from the 1939 movie The Women. The door is silver leaf with a crystal handle. The vanity has lucite legs. My favorite is the pagoda topped mirror. Utterly fabulous!

Chinese Chippendale DIY from LIV Vintage

Lonny
How about topping this great vintage Chinese Chippendale piece from LIV Vintage with a piece of glass and using it as a floating bar?

Chinese Chippendale DIY from LIV Vintage

Ruthie Sommers
LIV Vintage has this amazing Chinese Chippendale piece for $75 with so many possibilities. I would love to see it mounted on the wall just below the ceiling as a canopy/crown/corona above a twin bed, day bed, or crib painted in the color of your choice and hung with Chinoiserie fabric. Whoever grabs this should send in "after" photos.
