Girly Black Chinoiserie Wallpaper

I must admit that in general I have not hopped on the black walls bandwagon. I usually find the look depressing and faddish. I did do a recent post on how to make it come alive with Chinoiserie and some of those looks are quite fabulous. Well I must add to the fabulous list this wonderful Perroquet wallpaper by Nina Campbell. Many of you probably remember that the apartment just above and below is that of Rita Konig, daughter of famed British interior designer Nina Campbell that was featured in Domino. Rita also wrote the blog Girl About Town for Domino. I also like the room below where Perroquet is used with lime green and the black kitchen as well. Although the paper comes in other colorways, I am smitten with the black, which keeps the parrots, butterflies, flowers, and cherries from being too twee.

woops! I have just posted on my 'black' powder room.
I really love it! Twee maybe, but my little fat man makes me laugh. Love your blog xx Lyn

I dis admire that wallpaper from first sight although I love the black, I'm not so into the girly. I agree, looks quite feminine without going over the top. Very un"twee".

I especially love the bottom paper. I had a black chinoiserie toile powder bath in my last house. Everyone felt it'd be dark and depressing, including my usually un-opinionated husband. But it just felt like a little jewelry box, and the jewelry inside (gilded picture frames, a pagoda light fixture) really shone against it. Maybe I'll try it again. I have to find a picture of that bathroom now.
